I was recently asked to speak at an event that my good buddy Eddie Villa was having in Salt Lake City, Utah.

During my talk I did a training that I call Fearless Video Influence—a strategic way to help you get over your fear and turn viewers into leads and build a community of raving fans who love what you offer.

Let’s get real: the key to success in the digital space boils down to three simple words—know, like, and trust.

If your audience knows you, likes you, and trusts you, they’re far more likely to take action. And nothing builds those connections faster than video.

But I get it. Video can be scary. Whether it’s fear of judgment, not knowing what to say, or the dreaded perfectionism, the struggles are real.

Here’s the truth I shared from the stage: fear doesn’t mean stop. It means go anyway. Authenticity is your superpower.

People don’t want perfect—they want real. And when you show up as the amazing, one-of-a-kind person God created you to be, your influence grows.

Here are some highlights from my stage talk:

1. Why Video?

Video is the ultimate bridge for building connections online. Just like how many of you felt like you already knew Eddie before meeting him, video allows your audience to experience your energy, passion, and heart. It’s like a fast pass to trust and influence.

2. Overcoming Fear

I shared some common fears about video—like being judged or not knowing what to say—and how to crush them. The key? Shift the focus off yourself and onto the people you’re serving. Service isn’t about you; it’s about them.

3. The Power of Authenticity

Good marketing doesn’t just attract the right people—it also repels the wrong ones. Not everyone will like you, and that’s okay. Be yourself. The real you is what creates influence, and influence leads to results.

4. Creating Your First Videos

For those just starting out, I introduced the 555 Plan: make 15 short videos to build confidence and momentum. Start with one-minute videos just for yourself, then graduate to sharing in a private test group, and finally, go live. The hardest part is starting, but once you build momentum, you’ll be unstoppable.

5. A Simple Video Framework

Every video should include:

  • A hook to grab attention (master this!).
  • Set the hook (This is driving the problem deeper)
  • First call to action (Optional)
  • High-value content (Deliver on your hook promise).
  • A call to action to guide your viewers on what to do next.

6. Embrace the Journey

Your first video won’t be perfect, and that’s okay! Remember: you can’t get to your 100th video without doing your first. Progress beats perfection every time.

If you’ve been hesitating to press “record,” now’s the time to take action. Video is the most powerful tool we have to connect with our audience, share our stories, and make an impact. Embrace the challenge, lean into your strengths, and let your authenticity shine.
