Here’s how personal branding for business owners works. A personal brand is literally all about showing up as the owner.
By sharing your expertise, you naturally become the expert to those people, and then your personal brand kind of emerges all on its own.
You already run a business and you’re really, really good at it.
The problem is nobody has seen your face and they don’t really know who you are.
Now, Alex Hormozi just recently posted that here’s what he would do to build a personal brand if he had to start over, and it got close to 700,000 views in just under two weeks.
Now today, I’m gonna talk to you about how you can build a personal brand with the business that you already have and that you love.
You’re gonna wanna make sure that you stick around until the end, because I’m gonna share with you one step that most business owners skip, and this is the one that turns trust into clients.
Why Build a Personal Brand Today?
So let’s get into this, a personal brand. How do you build a personal brand today and beyond and into the future?
You know, today with AI, building a personal brand is more important than ever, and it’s actually more effective than ever.
So I’m gonna give you five key points that you can hone in on and that you can do.
Do You Need to Become an Influencer to Build a Personal Brand?
So your first one is that you do not need to become an influencer per se.
Many people feel like they’ve gotta have a big, huge audience, but you don’t. You really don’t need to have, like, this influencer status.
The knowledge, the expertise, what you know right now is more than enough to help you build a personal brand.
Look, you know your business inside and out. You know the things that help people.
You know the things that your product does.
People are looking for expertise, and they’re looking for people that know what they’re talking about.
So you already have that advantage based on what you’re doing in your business.
What Does a Personal Brand Mean for a Business Owner?
This is very, very important to understand, because a personal brand is literally all about showing up as the owner.
It’s about showing up. It’s about getting your face out there.
It’s, like, about letting people see who you are, what you represent, the values that you represent, and what your product can do.
People love education, but they love it from somebody that they can trust.
Why Does Your Face Build Trust?
So let’s dive into point number two. Your face builds trust, okay?
When you get on video, people see you and they hear your voice, and they decide right then and there whether they can trust you.
And the more you put yourself out there, the more you speak about what you know and what you can do and what your product can do, the more people will trust you.
So familiarity breeds trust.
It is something that the more you do, the more often you do it, and the more people see you, they will get used to you, they will like your information, and they eventually will buy.
Now, I know from my own personal habits, I have followed people for a while before I actually decided to buy something from them.
I just was learning from them a little bit here, a little bit there, and then one day they shared something that just really hit the sweet spot of what I was looking for, and I decided I was going to buy what they were offering.
So just know that your face and your voice and putting yourself out there builds trust over time.
What Content Should a Business Owner Create?
So number three is about creating content, and we want to create content based around what your customers are already asking for.
You know, you may not realize it, but many of the comments in YouTube videos that maybe you’re already creating, or in the YouTube comments of what other creators are creating, are some of the biggest questions that people want answered.
So you can do some research, you can do it on your own, or you could probably have AI go out and search it for you.
But look in your niche around your topic, what are some of the biggest questions people are actually asking?
Ask Yourself This One Question
Because I’ll tell you right now, I’ve been teaching people for years that if you really wanna build leverage, ask yourself this question right now:
What is the biggest question I constantly get asked from my prospects or the people regarding my product?
If you can answer that question, create a video around it.
So not only that, but whenever somebody asks you about that, you can just say, “Here’s a video I created all about it. Go check it out.”
And you can hand that off.
And the more content you create around the questions that your people are asking, guess what’s gonna happen?
Eventually that is gonna take off because you’re gonna have all kinds of content out there answering the main questions that people have.
So that is very, very important to understand. Always be tapped into what people are asking for.
Why Isn’t Trust the Same as a Sale?
So point number four is understanding that trust, having people’s trust, isn’t a sale.
This is very important to understand because just because you have their trust doesn’t mean you’re actually going to make money yet.
So how do you do this? We need to continually build what I refer to as my email list, and you’ve probably heard this before, too.
In some of my past videos, I talk about building an email list and the importance of it.
One of the greatest places that people are more accepting of offers is the email inbox. It is a commonplace for offers.
People are used to seeing offers, and they will buy from their emails.
They’re used to it. It is a habit.
And so the key is, is not only to build trust, but then give them something for free, give them a freebie, an app, something that allows them to get on your email list and get some value from you.
And then over time, in exchange for that email address, you can continue to send out information, value, and build trust through that.
And when the time comes to make an offer, if you are speaking directly to that person, you’re gonna get a sale. And that’s how you do it.
You Need a Way to Follow Up
We need a method to follow up with people.
Some people may see one of your videos and then never see you again. They may see one piece of your content and then move on.
The best thing we can do is get them on an email list, so the next time we create a video, we can then email them and say, “Hey, I created a new video. Come on over. Check it out.”
We have a way to stay in touch with people, and that’s why you wanna get people on an email list.
What’s the Step Most Business Owners Skip?
All right, so point number five, and this is the big step that most people miss.
Sometimes I feel like an absolute complete broken record ’cause I’m always preaching this, and that is the actual email list.
I actually saw a big influencer. She had, like, over half a million subscribers on YouTube.
I remember her saying one time in an Instagram post, as I followed her on Instagram, “I have an email list I’ve built of over 80,000 people, and I rarely ever email it.”
And I’m thinking to myself, “Are you insane?” Like, I could not believe it.
Like, that is a huge list of people that raised their hand and said, “Email me more information.”
And I just kept thinking to myself, “Boy, she is missing out on so much profit because she’s not utilizing that channel.”
What’s the Worst Mistake You Can Make With Your Email List?
Now see, it is one thing to build an email list. But the absolute worst thing you could ever do is never email that list.
Every single video that you create, you should be sending an email and letting people see your video.
Your video provides two things, okay?
It not only is a great way to nurture subscribers, but it’s also a way to get traction on your new content.
And in the process, you’re nurturing and pre-selling at the same time.
So you should always utilize that channel and utilize every channel that you can when it comes to building a personal brand.
How Does Personal Branding for Business Owners Fit Together?
So how does that all fit together in building a personal brand?
Because the more that you’re in front of people talking about a topic that they wanna hear about, you eventually become the go-to person.
Your brand is not something that you necessarily go out and purposely build other than just sharing your expertise.
By sharing your expertise, you naturally become the expert to those people, and then your personal brand kind of emerges all on its own.
Final Thoughts
So get out there, talk about what’s valuable, talk about your expertise, talk about what you know, and focus on helping people, and guess what?
Your personal brand will essentially build itself.
Am I wrong? Am I right?
I’d love to know your thoughts.
Go ahead and comment below and let me know.
You rock,
