If you have been around the home based business industry for any length of time, you have probably heard the saying….

“Find a leader that is at the level you want to be and do exactly what they are doing to get to the same level”

While finding those that are masters at what they do and structuring what you do accordingly is important, that doesn't mean you should copy them. Modeling a leader, does not mean “COPY” them.

Modeling is finding the basics of what they do, and putting your own voice and personality into it.

As human beings, we have this inner desire to always search for systems. In other words, we are looking for the simple 1, 2, 3 way to do things, and that is why its just easier to see what someone is doing and avoid putting our thoughts or creativity into the process. The problem with this is that we tend to loose our identity in the system if we are just doing it mindlessly.

When wanting to get to a certain level that a leader has attained, we find ourselves trying to do exactly what they are doing but end up leaving out our own personality in the process. I know because I was doing that for many years in my home based business career. I spent way to much time trying to copy what other leaders were doing instead of just modeling what they were doing and adding my own flavor.

If you remember cassette tapes from years ago ( I know, I am dating myself…lol) When you would take an original cassette tape and make a copy, the copy was never as good as the original. The same principle applies here.

On todays Podcast, I share with you exactly why you want to give your content, and your marketing strategies your own voice, you will find that what you do will have such a bigger impact, and your audience will expand big time.

I would like to know how you Mark Harbert show up on my facebook page, posting as if you were me. That does not make any sense to me. I agree with what you say here and actually like your blog, but I am confused and a little annoyed that you can post on my Facebook page and make it look like I made the post, that just is not cool.

I have absolutely no Idea how or why that would happen. I certainly didn't post it on your timeline. Was it in the newsfeed?

    • Jerry Goodwin

Yes it was in the newsfeed but it said very plainly that I posted it, that didn't make sense, but sometimes computers don't make sense either. It is however the first time I have ever seen it doo that. Anyway I read your blog and do indeed agree with what you said in the blog, thought it was really good.
