When I sat down with funnel expert James Curran on the Fearless Influencer Podcast, one theme kept rising to the top: Continuity income.

For years, entrepreneurs have been chasing high-ticket sales and one-time launches. But James and I both agree that if you want long-term stability, recurring revenue must become the foundation of your business.

In this post, I’ll share some of James’ insights from our conversation, my own journey with continuity, and why every online entrepreneur should prioritize building a recurring revenue model.

What Is Continuity Income?

Continuity income, also known as recurring revenue, is income that comes in month after month, year after year.

Instead of selling a $2,000 course once and hoping for the next big sale, continuity income provides stability. This could be a membership program, subscription service, retainer package, or any recurring billing model.

Think of Amazon Prime or Netflix. Customers pay a predictable fee, and the business enjoys a steady cash flow. The same model works for coaches, consultants, affiliate marketers and digital marketers.

James Curran’s Journey Into Funnels and Recurring Revenue

James spent over 20 years as a software developer before shifting into the world of funnels and marketing. His wife worked for Tony Robbins as a high-level performance coach, and when she branched out on her own, James built her first website.

But like so many of us, he quickly learned that a website without traffic or a funnel doesn’t generate leads or sales. That realization launched him into the funnel-building world.

At Funnel Hacking Live 2022, he had a powerful moment. He saw how many entrepreneurs were overwhelmed by the transition from ClickFunnels Classic to ClickFunnels 2.0.

James recognized an opportunity to serve as the bridge between the two platforms. That clarity gave him the confidence to leverage his tech skills into a real business.

But even with funnels, James noticed a deeper issue for entrepreneurs… too many were relying on one-time, high-ticket sales without any recurring revenue.

Why Continuity Income Creates Stability

James explained how many solopreneurs fall into the feast-or-famine cycle. You close a big client, deliver the work, then suddenly realize you have no new prospects lined up.

Continuity income breaks that cycle. When you have a membership site or retainer clients, your bills are paid even if no new sales come in that month.

For me personally, continuity has been the backbone of my business for more than a decade. My membership program has kept my business grounded through ups and downs. It’s not just revenue — it’s peace of mind.

My Turning Point: From $7 to a Five-Figure Month

I’ll never forget the day my wife stood in the kitchen with the refrigerator open and said, “Honey, we need food.”

At that moment, I had just $7 in my PayPal account and couldn’t even withdraw it because of international ATM fees. We were living in Chile, and I was frustrated, embarrassed, and tired of feeling broke.

Something snapped inside me. I decided enough was enough. I started creating videos like crazy, publishing 10 in one day, and promoting an affiliate program.

Within 90 days, I went from $7 to my first five-figure month online. That breakthrough taught me two things:

  1. I had what it took to succeed online.

  2. Stability would only come when I built recurring revenue.

That’s why continuity income has been at the core of my business ever since. I was promoting an affiliate program that brought in residual income month in and month out.

The Real Value of Continuity: Relationships and Connection

James and I both agree that continuity income isn’t just about money. It’s about relationships, connection, and continuous value exchange.

When customers join a membership or continuity program, they don’t just get content. They get access, support, and community. That ongoing connection builds trust and creates lifelong clients.

I’ve been in this industry since 2008, and the communities I’ve been part of have always been what helped me succeed the most. A one-off course can help, but ongoing mentorship and a supportive group are what create transformation.

High Ticket vs Continuity: You Need Both

It’s important to note that continuity doesn’t replace high-ticket offers. Both revenue models work hand in hand.

High-ticket sales bring cash infusions. Continuity creates a stable foundation.

Think of continuity as your floor — the base income that covers expenses and keeps your business steady. High-ticket offers then stack on top for rapid growth.

If you rely only on high-ticket sales, you’ll constantly feel like you’re chasing your tail.

If you rely only on continuity, you may grow too slowly. But together, they create a powerful business model.

Human Connection Still Wins in the Age of AI

Another powerful part of our discussion was the role of AI. While AI is transforming marketing, customer service, and even content creation, it can never replace human connection.

Businesses that thrive will be those that leverage AI for efficiency but keep humans as the face of the brand. Customers want to know there’s someone they can talk to, trust, and connect with.

Continuity income models like memberships and communities thrive because they prioritize this very connection.

Consistency Is the Key

When I asked James for his number one piece of advice for 2025 and beyond, he said it in one word: consistency.

He’s been posting every single day for years. That consistency builds trust, communicates commitment, and attracts the right people.

The same applies to continuity income. The more consistently you deliver value, the more your members will stay, refer others, and help you grow.

Final Thoughts: Build Your Foundation with Continuity Income

If you want to create stability in your online business, continuity income must be part of your strategy.

Start simple. Launch a membership, create a low-ticket subscription, or add a recurring retainer option. Pair it with high-ticket offers, and you’ll build both stability and growth.

I’ve lived through the ups and downs. I’ve felt the fear of having nothing but $7 in my account. And I’ve seen the security that comes when you have recurring revenue you can count on.

The sooner you embrace continuity income, the sooner you’ll create true freedom in your online business.

You rock,
