How to Create an AI Voice and Style Primer That Makes Your Content Sound Exactly Like You

If you have been using AI to create content and it just does not sound like you, there is a very specific reason why. And I am going to show you something in this post that I think is going to completely change the way you use AI from this point forward.

It is called an AI voice and style primer. And once you build one, your AI content will start sounding like you, not like a robot trying to guess who you are.

Why Your AI Content Sounds Generic

Here is the thing most people do not think about when they sit down to use ChatGPT, Claude, or any other AI model. When you type a generic prompt, you have literally given AI zero context.

It does not know how you speak. It does not know your phrases, your teaching style, your personality, or the specific way you explain ideas. So it just does what it always does and gives you a generic output that could have been written by anyone.

The problem is not the AI. The problem is that you have not given it enough of YOU to work with.

I have been doing video marketing for years, and I see this mistake constantly. People sit down, type a quick prompt, and wonder why the content does not feel authentic. The answer is simple. You have to give AI context before it can give you great output.

What Is a Voice and Style Primer?

A voice and style primer is a document that captures everything about how you communicate. It includes your common phrases, your teaching patterns, the words you naturally use, your editorial guardrails, and the emotional triggers you pull on most often.

You attach this primer to your AI prompts and tell it to write in your voice. The difference in output quality is night and day.

I want to be clear about something here. This is not a generic style guide or a corporate brand document. This is a deeply personal document built directly from your own words and your own content. And the way you build it is the key.

Now here is what makes this so powerful. You are not guessing at what your voice sounds like. You are letting AI analyze your actual content and tell you exactly how you communicate. That is a completely different approach than just writing down a few bullet points about your tone.

How to Build Your AI Voice and Style Primer Step by Step

Let me walk you through exactly how I built mine, because this is something you can do right now. It is easier than you think, and the results are going to blow your mind.

Step 1: Gather Your Video Transcripts

The raw material for your primer is your existing content. I pulled transcripts from eight different videos I had already created.

These ranged from eight-minute teaching videos all the way up to a one-hour podcast interview I did on ClickFunnels Radio. You can use a tool like Descript to pull transcripts quickly from your existing videos.

Step 2: Load Your Transcripts Into a ChatGPT Project

Inside ChatGPT, I created a new project and called it “Mark Harbert Persona.” Then I loaded all eight transcripts directly into that project as source documents.

This is where the magic starts. When you give AI a rich source of your actual voice, it has real material to evaluate and learn from instead of just guessing.

Step 3: Extract Your Phrase Bank

Here is the exact prompt I used: “Look over all the transcripts in this project. Create an exhaustive list of all the common phrases I use. Find every common word and phrase and put them together in one big list.”

The result was a huge list of the phrases I use all the time. Things I say so naturally I had never even noticed them. Seeing it all laid out was pretty amazing.

Step 4: Build the Full Voice and Style Primer

Once I had the phrase list, I pushed it one step further. I told ChatGPT to take everything it had learned and build out a complete voice and style primer, giving summaries and going as deep as possible with all the details.

It took about seven minutes to process. What came back was an eleven-page document. That primer now captures exactly how I communicate, and I attach it to every AI prompt I use to create content.

What the Voice and Style Primer Actually Contains

When I looked at the finished primer, it covered everything. It included an executive summary of my communication style, a breakdown of my teaching patterns, the emotional triggers I use most often, and a full phrase bank organized by category.

The AI literally identified things like my common openers, my transition phrases, my coaching language, my action phrases, and even my natural spoken fillers. It evaluated probably eight to ten hours of my content to build that list. The depth of what it found was something I could never have put together manually.

It even gave me editorial guardrails. Things like: do not write like a corporate brand, do not sound academic or overly polished, do not overuse jargon. All of that came from analyzing my own words. That is incredibly useful when you are using AI to help you create content at scale.

The Four Primers Every Content Creator Needs

Now here is something I want you to understand. The voice and style primer is one of four primers I teach as part of a complete AI content framework. The other three are the My Story Primer, the Offer Primer, and the Avatar Primer.

Each one gives AI a different layer of context about who you are, what you sell, and who you serve. When you use all four together, your AI output becomes powerfully personal and specific to your brand.

The voice and style primer is the one I am most excited about adding to this system, because it solves the single biggest complaint I hear from content creators using AI. They say it sounds generic. Now you know exactly how to fix that.

Think about it this way. Before I had this primer, I was giving AI a map with no landmarks. Now I am giving it a complete GPS with turn-by-turn directions built around my exact communication style. The difference in results is massive.

Why This One Change Transforms Your AI Output

The quality of your AI output comes down entirely to the quality of the context you give it. This is not just a tip, it is the core principle behind getting great results with any AI model.

If you want AI to write emails, blog posts, social captions, or video scripts that actually sound like you, then you need to teach it how you sound. A voice and style primer does exactly that. It is the difference between a generic piece of content and something that feels like it came straight from you.

This is how you build a personal brand with AI that actually works. Not by letting AI guess who you are, but by showing it exactly who you are and how you speak.

Start building your AI voice and style primer today. Pull your transcripts, load them into a project, and let AI do the work of figuring out what makes your voice unique. You are going to be blown away by what it finds.

If this helped you, leave me a comment below and let me know how you are planning to use this in your content workflow. I would love to know, and we will see you in the next one.

You rock,
