Every day I am on social media I see people posting all kinds of things from business opportunities to politics, to crazy viral videos.

I tend to be very observant as to what people are posting and the reaction that it produces in others.

The things I look for specifically are…

Are people “liking” the post? and, Are people commenting on the post?

If I don't see that, it usually raises an eyebrow, and I wonder why.

Here are two things that will take up your engagement in a big way if you do it for 30 days straight.

As a matter of fact, if you do it for 30 days and you don't see a significant uptick in your engagement then you are doing something wrong.

#1: Be Sociable Yourself

It kind of goes without saying, but surprisingly enough many don't realize that it's called “Social Media” for a reason.

That means you need to be sociable yourself.

Liking and commenting on others' posts yourself.

Imagine going to a party and you are talking to nobody and then all of a sudden you blurt out something people might look at you like your weird.

It's the same thing with social media.

If you're not making any effort to reach out to people yourself, you won't get any love in return.

There is a law of life I always think of it's called the “Law of Reciprocity” and it basically means this…

The law of reciprocity means that when someone does something nice for you, your hard-wired human nature determines that you do something nice for them in return.

Make sense? So if you are not doing this, it's time to start today.

#2: The Power of Compliments

Remember this…

People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.

People rarely care about the knowledge you have, but they will always remember the way you make them feel.

Emotions are powerful and when you invoke emotion in someone, they will always remember that even years after the fact.

The power of a simple “You rock” or a “You're Awesome my friend” can go really far in terms of engagement.

Now let me be clear here. I am not suggesting that you do it and be fake.

No, not at all. That is not cool.

But think about how much you appreciate compliments.

Probably a lot right?

It's always great to know that you are appreciated right?

The same goes for your friends on Facebook or other social media sites.

BONUS TIP: Post Your Opinion on A Controversial Topic

This is one surefire way to drum up LOTS of engagement.

Some people will shy away from this because you will get negative reactions in addition to positive ones.

But, the truth about good marketing is that it attracts just as much as it repels.

So think about something you believe deeply in and post your opinion on it.

BE WARNED: If you are easily affected by the negative comments of others then you might not want to do this one.

Posting your opinion on something controversial in this day a time is pretty crazy, but if you do it right you will attract your perfect prospects easily.

If you enjoyed this post feel free to share it with your friends or anybody you think can get value from it.
