There’s a unique moment in life when faith and purpose collide.
It’s that spark when you realize that all the pieces of your story were never random. They were divine stepping stones, guiding you toward something bigger than yourself.
That’s exactly what happened when I sat down with my good friend Ronai Brumett, author of Faithfully Unleash Your Strengths.
Ronai's story is a powerful reminder that God doesn’t waste anything not your past, not your pain, not even your detours.

From Bodybuilder to Faith Builder
Ronai's journey started in the world of health and fitness. She was a personal trainer and even competed as a bodybuilder.
She jokes, “I was a bodybuilder until I built four other bodies,” referring to her children. But even through all her success in the physical arena, she felt God nudging her toward something deeper.
When she attended the Faith Over Fear event, everything changed.
She began asking God to speak to her clearly. And He did. Right there, during the conference, she received what she calls a divine download.
God told her she was going to write a book called Faithfully Unleash Your Strengths and that she would write it with her mentor and friend, Eddie Via.
That was the moment her purpose and faith collided.
How Faith and Strengths Connect
Ronai's background with CliftonStrengths assessments had already helped her understand human potential. But now, she saw it through a spiritual lens. She realized that every strength is a reflection of God’s design in us.
Eddie’s original work with the Strengths Proclamation described different personality spheres like connection, influence, wisdom, and action. Together, they reshaped those into faith-driven versions:
-
Sphere of Connection: To connect people with God
-
Sphere of Impact: To move others to walk with God
-
Sphere of Action: To ensure things are done God’s way
-
Sphere of Wisdom: To think, co-create, and learn God’s message
That transformation took the concept of self-awareness and turned it into God-awareness.
The Danger of Comparison
One of the first lessons Ronai shares in her book is simple but profound stop comparing yourself to others.
In a world flooded with highlight reels, it’s easy to feel like you don’t measure up.
But as Ronai reminds us, when you compare yourself to others, you’re essentially telling God that He made a mistake. And the truth is, He never does.
Each of us is what scripture calls His handiwork. The Greek word for that is poema, which is where we get the word poem. You are literally God’s poem crafted with intention and beauty.
I’ve seen comparison steal confidence in so many people I’ve coached. I remember once watching a student’s video that sounded oddly familiar.
When I looked closer, I realized she had copied one of my scripts word for word. It wasn’t coming from her authentic self. That’s what comparison does it silences your unique voice.
God made each of us distinct for a reason. You don’t need to be someone else to make an impact. You just need to show up as the masterpiece He created you to be.
Hearing God’s Voice Through Your Strengths
What I love about Ronai's story is how she learned to hear God’s voice through her own strengths. She’ll tell you herself that she didn’t write the book it came through her.
That kind of spiritual partnership happens when we finally say, “Here I am, Lord.” It’s what the Hebrew word Hineni means: total surrender.
Ronai's obedience didn’t come without doubt. She faced criticism from people questioning her background and theology.
But instead of retreating, she stayed focused on her relationship with God, trusting that His voice would guide her.
That’s the heart of what Faithfully Unleash Your Strengths teaches. God wants to partner with us, to use our unique wiring for His purpose. The more you lean in, the more clearly you hear Him.
Partnering with God Daily
Partnership with God isn’t complicated. It’s not about perfect prayers or knowing every verse by heart. It’s about conversation and consistency.
Ronai's describes it beautifully: some mornings, before her feet even hit the floor, she starts talking to God.
Sometimes He tells her to get up and read her Bible. Other times, He nudges her to pray or just sit in stillness.
It’s those quiet moments where faith deepens and clarity comes.
I’ve experienced that same thing in my own journey. Back in 2012, I hit rock bottom. I had only seven dollars to my name and a family to feed.
I remember the feeling of desperation and the turning point that followed when I decided to take massive action. That moment in Chile changed my life forever because it forced me to lean on faith instead of fear.
God often waits for us to get still so He can speak. When we finally quiet the noise, that’s when direction shows up.
The Call to Be Still and Listen
Ronai ended our conversation with a simple yet powerful challenge: Stop. Get still. Listen.
If you want peace, purpose, and power in your life, it starts by asking God to reveal it. He’s not hiding from you. He’s waiting for you to invite Him into your plans.
Start small. Maybe it’s five minutes of quiet time before your day begins. Maybe it’s turning off the noise and journaling your thoughts. Just start.
Because when you do, you’ll begin to see your strengths not as random traits, but as divine fingerprints of God’s plan for your life.
So today, I challenge you take time to get quiet and let God speak. You might be surprised by what He tells you.
